States Rights
The North and South also argued over what rights states were allowed. This was a very common topic of arguments. The constitution stated that states could make laws as long as they didn't go against the constitution. There was much argument over what the Constitution permitted and what the states should be allowed to do. This increased tensions between the North and South.
